PARALLEL PROGRAM / Marek Kvetán: NEW CITY
<
MAREK KVETÁN - NEW CITY

14.11 - 30.11. 2002
Curator: Juraj Čarný

The exhibition of Marek Kvetán /1977/ - NEW CITY is a pilot exhibition of the international project Billboart Gallery Europe. The exhibition was held on billboards in Bratislava /Starohorská street - near the Faculty Hospital; Quay L.Svobodu - near the Fish Guild and on the parking lot opposite the entrance to the PKO; in an area of the parking lot of the shopping center Metro; near the Kormorán restaurant and Draždiak lake/.

NEW CITY of Marek Kvetán is part of a large-scale project realized from 2000. The project is based on a digital erasing of famous landmarks of European cities. Older projects as a Berlin without Brandenburg Gate, Paris without Eiffel Tower, Sydney without the Opera House will be completed through this actual exhibition, where Kvetán exhibits a view on Bratislava without its historical landmark - the castle. Besides the digital manipulation, Marek Kvetán also deals with video art, interactive projects, computer games, objects, installations and video-installations. He regularly has exhibits on the most important exhibitions in Slovakia as well as abroad.
